I looked back and thought... "I have raised a field trip, but this isn't even everyone."
We could not afford to go anywhere when the kids were younger and I did not travel much until after I turned 40. My first trip alone was two months in the Philippines. That trip made me realize how important it is to take some time to travel alone, and do big things- especially for the girls.
This year has taken us everywhere. Together and separately we saw sights in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Indiana, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington, DC, Missouri, Kansas, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Along the way we had wheels on the ground in California, Kentucky, Illinois, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
For our first ever whole family trip we caravaned and spent my birthday week in Canon Beach, Oregon in a cute little place a block from the beach. Four of us visited Puerto Rico in three different trips. Daphne and Balee went in March, I went in April, and Josie lived there from July to October! Mac lived in the Outer Banks for the summer, and Jack, Irish, and Tessa were able to get back to the Philippines for her family to finally meet Tessa.
That left our nest very empty over the summer. That was not easy for me, but it filled me with pride seeing our kids scattered across the globe, knowing how hard we have all worked to be able to have this life.
